What is Emergenetics?

Emergenetics is a powerful and flexible profiling tool which is based on the latest brain research.  It is a combination of genetics and what has emerged from our learned experiences. We are all born pre-wired to think and behave in certain ways. However, these characteristics are modified as we grow up and interact with our environment, creating our unique personality. The combination of our experiences and genetics intertwine to form some commonly recognisable patterns which we measure through Emergenetics.

What does it measure?

The Emergenetics Profile provides information on four thinking attributes and three behavioural attributes.

The Thinking Attributes are:

  • Analytical – How you combine rational thought with abstract ideas
  • Structural – How you combine sequential thought with practical ideas
  • Social – How you combine intuitive thought with a connection to others
  • Conceptual – How you combine intuitive thought with abstract ideas

The Behavioural Attributes are:

  • Expressiveness – Your level of participation in social situations
  • Assertiveness – Your interest in controlling results
  • Flexibility – Your willingness to accommodate others

The Background

Emergenetics was developed in the USA over 25 years ago.  It is the result of extensive research involving over 300,000 adults. Based on the latest brain dominance research, this reliable, valid and proven test provides insight that helps individuals best use their thinking preferences and behaviour attributes.

Emergenetics is a self-descriptive test, meaning you answer a series of questions about yourself. Your results are compared against group norms by gender, allowing you to compare yourself to the population of women or men at large. We re-norm our data by gender every two years to make sure we are keeping current.

The Science

The science of how people think and behave is our passion.  The Emergenetics Profile is based on the latest brain research and backed by 20 years of data collection and analysis.

Definitive:  Over 300,000 profiles and counting
Accurate: Test/retest validation is very strong
Valid: The Standards of Education and Psychological Testing, which outline test reliability and validity, were strictly followed during the development process
Up-to-date: Data is re-normed against the population every two years to ensure reliability
