Profiling Tools - in the Workplace

Profiling tools comprise a series of psychometric and personality tests, the purpose of which in workplace implementations is to assist that person to enjoy and improve job performance and help that employee's contribution to the company. A personality profile is a knowledge management facility used to evaluate an employee's personal attributes, values and life skills. Questions in profiling tools are designed to capture information about an employee's temperament, decision-making skills and attributes, communication style and a whole range of indicators which can define general attitude towards work and leisure activitiesn. The information can be used to match the right employee to the right project or task, especially when group and teamwork is involved.

Sample Profile

This is an example of an Emergenetics Profile using the Emergenetics profiling tools suite which includes personality testing. This individual has a natural gift for Analytical thinking (Blue) and Structural thinking (Green). She does not have Social thinking (Red) and Conceptual thinking (Yellow) as preferred attributes. We would expect her to be more interested in data, analysis, systems, organisation and practical solutions than in emotional issues, people problems, global concerns or creative thinking. It is important to note, however, that she does possess a fondness for Social thought (Red) even if it is not technically one of her preferences.

In addition, Emergenetics profiling tools reveal an individual’s Behavioural Attributes (Purple). In this case, she is at the near-end of the spectrum (called the "first-third") for Expressiveness, at the middle of the spectrum ("second-third") for Assertiveness, and at the middle of the spectrum ("second-third") for Flexibility. This is someone who is largely in the "it-depends" group, meaning that she is comfortable in adapting her behaviours based on the situation. Overall she is focused on her projects and wants her ideas to be implemented, but is open to other points of view. She will explain her thoughts when she believes it is appropriate, but she is not the first person to speak up.
